Nevis has taken another step towards serving their citizens as they marked the completion of the construction of the second well at Maddens. This marks a huge step in boosting the water supply for the community and ensuring access to fresh and clean water for all the citizens of the country.

Premier Mark Brantley shared the glimpses of the successful second well dug at Maddens. He appreciated Nevis Island Administration (NIA) team led by Spencer Brand for making significant efforts towards improving the water resources of the island nation.

He added that Spencer Brand is creating a path for every man, woman and child in Nevis to benefit from these facilities. “My brother Spencer Brand take a bow. Nevis we are working for you. We are focused on you. We are taking decisions to benefit you.”

He stated that they as a government have made several significant investments and aimed to continue to make so in order to lead the nation towards sustainability.

As per the details, the NIA contracted the drilling company, Water and Oil Well Services Company Limited for the construction of second well at Maddens. He stated that with the construction of this well, they aim to reach a depth of 500 to 600 feet, aiming to enhance the water supply of the island nation.

The Minister for Water Service, Spencer Brand said that they are planning to construct around 9 walls. He added that the construction of these walls is a part of their effort to secure a sustainable water supply for the citizens of the island nation.

He said that the testing of the water samples of the second well dug at Maddens will take place in Miami. The Minister also said that they are committed to ensure that the citizens of Nevis are offered with clean water.

Minister Spencer said that they will ensure that the water is tested as per the standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO). He also said that if the testing of the water continued as they planned then this well is expected to be operated by December 2024.

This effort by the authorities has been highly appreciated by the netizens of the island nation. They have lauded them for their commitment towards bringing sustainable development in Nevis.
