A mandatory quarantine has once again been implemented by the Thailand government for the passengers arriving in the country, which came into effect from today onwards.
This means that the passengers arriving in Thailand would have to undergo a quarantine period between 7 to 10 days.
The authorities stated rising concern over the new Covid-19 variant ‘Omicron’.
With this, the test and go policy of Thailand is not in effect now. Passengers must check the other Covid-19 health protocols and guidelines if they are planning to visit Thailand.
Thailand Pass system will be temporarily suspending all new applications for the Test and Go and Sandbox Program (except Phuket Sandbox).
As per the official website of the Thailand embassy, the following are the updates done:
1. Applicants who have received their Thailand Pass QR Code can enter Thailand under the program they have registered for and been approved.
2. Applicants who have registered but have not received their QR Code must wait for their Thailand Pass to be considered/approved. Once approved, they can enter Thailand under the scheme they have registered or been approved.
3. New applicants will not be able to register for Test and Go and Sandbox Programs (except Phuket Sandbox). Thailand Pass will only accept new applicants seeking to enter Thailand under Alternative Quarantine (AQ) or Phuket Sandbox only.
4. Passengers who will arrive in Thailand under Test and Go and Sandbox Program must undergo a 2nd COVID-19 test using the RT-PCR technique (not ATK self-test) at government-designated facilities (no additional cost).

What is a Thailand pass?
The Thailand Pass system is a free web-based system that has been designed with the motive to make the documentation process of travellers entering Thailand more efficient than the Certificate of Entry application.
