Trinidad and Tobago: The leader of Opposition, Kamla Persad Bissessar, congratulated Khemraj Seecharan – UNC Candidate for the Electoral District of Debe South, for retaining the Debe South seat.
The leader, once again, took social media to congratulate the newly elected candidate of the UNC. Kamla Persad wrote, “Congratulations again to Khemraj Seecharan – UNC Candidate for the Electoral District of Debe South and the entire UNC team”.
She further shared a glimpse of the victory rally, attended by many of the prominent leaders of the party.
The comment section of post was filled with congratulatory messages and best wishes for the new leader of Debe South.
One of the users wrote, “As Expected Its A UNC Stronghold..!! Let’s See How You Do In The Next G.E.In A Seat That Is Not A UNC Stronghold!!,” while another one wrote, “Bravo…Well deserved.”
The results were announced on February 7, 2022. The results showed that the United Nations Congress’ candidate Khemraj Sunil Seecharaan claimed a clear victory with around 1,650 votes.
The other parties who competed in the districts elections were the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP), which was second with 175 votes, while the People’s National Movement (PNM) attained only 25 votes.
After bagging the seat, UNC’s candidate gave a victory speech, targeted PNM and stated that today’s election was “a taste of what’s to come”.
He further thanked his supporters, including the family of late Purushottam Singh, the former district elected representative, until his passing in February 2021.
