Westmoreland, Jamaica: A domestic dispute resulted in a serious confrontation, which led to the chopping off of a woman’s hand by the father of her child. The incident is reported to have taken place in Petersfield, Westmoreland on Friday. The woman is in a serious condition in the hospital, and authorities are investigating the matter.
The suspect has been identified as Ashroy Johnson, a resident of Shrewsbury District in the parish. The name of the woman has not been revealed by the authorities. As per the details shared by the officers, the 21-year-old woman got into a heated argument with the father of her child.
The altercation between them started over a cellphone which later converted the verbal dispute into a physical fight. According to the reports, the suspect lost his calm, armed himself with the machete and attacked the woman, chopping the right hand of the victim.
Subsequently, he also slapped the mother of her child several times on her head and the other parts of her body which created severe injuries to the woman. Following the incident, the woman was taken to the hospital where she was admitted in a serious condition because of the wounds caused by the chopping attack.
Moreover, the authorities were informed about the act of crime and they are currently probing the matter in detail. They have promised to give strict punishment to the culprit for the offense he committed.
Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views and opinions on the matter.
One person with a Facebook handle Ena Henderson commented “What a wicked act, your child’s mother, how is she going to take care of the child.”
Another person commented the following “How shameful of that man is, how such heartless people are living on this earth, they should get hell. She is the mother of his child; such cruel acts only deserve punishment.”
The residents of Jamaica urged the administration to take strict actions in order to ensure the security and safety of the citizens residing in the country.
