Jamaica: Rising Athlete Bryan Levell attests support from Jamaica Olympic Association

Bryan Levell, an Under-20 World Championship medalist, on winning the Jamaican national 200m title, reaching out to the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) for support. The JOA in response to that extended its helping hand to aid his preparation for the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
Levell left a significant impact at the National 200 metres track by winning the event with a lifetime best of 19.97 secs. He also gave a remarkable performance at the National Senior and Junior Championships with another of his lifetime best of 9.97 secs. The JOA made a substantial investment of JMD $1,000,000 to support him and aid his preparation for the Olympic Games.
Bryan Levell is an Edwin Allen High graduate with a career record decorated with Champs, Carifta, and Under-20 World Championship medals. His remarkable performance at the recent National Olympic trials rooted his position for the big stage and earned the attention and support of the Olympic Association.
The swift response and affirmation to the request made by the Levell was anticipated by the Secretary General and CEO of JOA, Ryan Foster stating that merit and excellence cannot be bought, it is earned by giving in all you got. He said that it was this philosophy and conviction that had driven the Olympic Association to answer the call for support by Levell and his team.
Highlighting the significance of this established partnership, Foster expressed that it is more than just talk and exchange of smiles, rather it is a handshake that acknowledges excellence, needs and a dream for the Olympics that has now become reality. It is a handshake in realizing Bryan Levell’s aspirations and the mutuality that says they are in this together for Jamaica’s glory.
Acknowledging the support and help from JOA, Levell expressed his gratitude. He stated that he was very proud to be the first athlete to receive this award, an award which will be very beneficial for someone like him with no support. He said that the award from JOA will support his dreams and aspirations.
Damia Russell, Levell’s manager, praised his determination and resilience instead of having no sponsorship. She concluded that Bryan intends to prove and show other youngsters that dreams do come true and hard work does pay off.
