Jamaica: Raid by authorities led to discovery of illegal firearm, arrests 18-year-old
The authorities of Jamaica arrested an 18-year-old AC technician man for the offense of possessing an illegal firearm. The apprehension of the suspect was done during the raid exercise conducted by the officers on Monday, 6th May 2024.

Westmoreland, Jamaica: The authorities of Jamaica arrested an 18-year-old AC technician man for the offense of possessing an illegal firearm. The apprehension of the suspect was done during the raid exercise conducted by the officers on Monday, 6th May 2024.
As per the details, the officers received an information and they acted immediately on it by visiting his residence at Barracks Road in Whithorn, Westmoreland, Jamaica armed with search warrant.
On reaching there, the officers initiated the investigation by conducting a search of the bedroom. During the search, the officers found one M&P Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol along with a magazine containing five 9mm live rounds of ammunition. Notably, all these items were found under a pillow on top of the bed.
Following the discovery of the illegal items, the officers arrested him and took him to the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station. They also seized all the items discovered from the house of the suspect and placed him in custody.
Moreover, the authorities are still probing the matter in detail and has promised to get the culprit punished for the offence he committed. The authorities have also stated that the search operation was very necessary as the suspect could have done anything with this firearm. Therefore, they have promised to continue to conduct such operations with a vision to ensure safety and security of every citizen of the nation.
The residents of the community also took to their social media accounts and expressed their views on the matter, appreciating the officers for performing their duty diligently.
One person commented, “Good job, officer, I really appreciated your work. Such operations are necessary to bring peace in the nation.”
Another person commented the following “Keep up the good work officers, we need such type of dedicated authorities who are making every possible effort to stop crimes.”
The administration of the country has also ensured the citizens that they are implementing stringent policies and plans in order to stop increasing crime rate in the country.
