Jamaica: Fatal shooting at birthday party in Westmoreland, kills host

Westmoreland, Jamaica: A man on a motorcycle entered the birthday party venue and opened gunfire, which resulted in the death of the host of the party and injuries to the patron. The incident is reported to have taken place in a sports bar in Frome, Westmoreland, on Friday night.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Leon Anglin also known as ‘Rusty.’ As per the reports shared by the officers, the victim was hosting the pre-birthday party when suddenly the suspects drove on the bike and stopped on location.

Subsequently, the person sitting behind the driver of the motorcycle got off the vehicle and entered the venue location of the birthday party. As soon as he reached there, he fired inside and made a good escape on bike towards the direction of Frome.

Following the incident, the attendees of the party found Anglin lying on his back, bleeding from the wounds caused by the gunshot.

Moreover, a farmer who was a guest at the party was also discovered suffering from an injury caused by a gunshot to his left shoulder. The residents of the community extended help to both the injured people and transported them to Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital.

The doctors on duty examined them thoroughly and pronounced Leon Anglin dead. Meanwhile, the farmer is in stable condition and is undergoing medical treatment. The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to get the culprit punished for the offense he committed.

Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views and opinions on the matter. One person with a Facebook handle commented, “This is so cruel; I don’t understand why people even dare to attempt such criminal acts.”
Another person commented the following “Crime rates are increasing so rapidly in this nation. Officers need to take serious action against such crime activities.”

The residents have requested the administration to install cameras at such places with the motive of reducing the crime rate and ensuring the safety and security of every citizen of the nation.
