Jamaica: Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett discuss establishment of Global Tourism Resilience

Jamaica: Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett discussed the establishment of a Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre and the strong relationship between Japan and Jamaica when he made a courtesy call on Shunsuke TAKEI, Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs, recently at his office in Tokyo.

The robust discussion touched on several high-level areas such as economic cooperation, agriculture, tourism, education, energy, health and several other areas that are important to their development agenda.

“I believe that Japan, as one of the most resilient countries in the world, can develop even stronger ties in the field of tourism resilience with Jamaica. The establishment of a Satellite Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre would foster more discussions around resilience and resilience building,” said Minister Bartlett.

The Tourism Ministry of Jamaica anticipated that this meeting will provide strength to the connection between Jamaica and Japan and hopefully it will boost the tourism in Jamaica. During this trip, Minister Bartlett will meet various government officials.

The Tourism Minister also specified that he is hopeful regarding discussions and sharing understandings coming out of the expo. Bartlett will also embody Jamaica at the State Funeral for erstwhile Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

While in Japan, Minister Bartlett will also participate in the 9th Edition of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre’s (GTRCMC) Virtual Edmund Bartlett Lecture Series.

Minister Bartlett left the island on September 19 and is expected to return on Wednesday, September 28.

Expectedly, the event will offer a platform for numerous prospects, direct business-to-business and business-to-customer campaigns and business meetings.

Both countries share diplomatic relations since March, 1964.
