Jamaica: Governmental information service of Jamaica has informed that as of 14 March 2021, the nation has 31,305 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
In the last 24 hours, 806 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded simultaneously, 7 new COVID-related death reported(In the last 24 hours).
In the previous 24 hours, 114 recoveries have been confirmed. If we talk about the total number of deaths in the nation due to lethal coronavirus, its number is 492, which is relatively high.
There are 15,325 total COVID-19 active cases reported in Jamaica. Prime Minister Andrew Holness warned every citizen to be cautious and safeguard themselves from vaccination.
The elevation in the number of COVID-19 cases is terrible, yet people are not taking this pandemic seriously. On the other hand, there are some citizens who are creating awareness to restrict the spread of deadly coronavirus.
A Jamaican, Alecia Forbes, stated, “For those of you who feel that the government is merely using “fear tactics” to try and scare people, I happily invite you to go to the hospital nearest you and find out from heath care workers the volume of patients going in with COVID.”
Another resident stated, “the longer we take to obey rules, and the more extended schools will take to fully opened, also churches, businesses, parties, and the whole country but from our behavior, I don’t think you people want that to happen, so the longer everyone takes to united is the longer we will wait to get back to normal, it is not the government’s fault, its the people.”
Recently, UNICEF Jamaica has posted that, “Landed! 14,400 vaccine doses from #COVAX putting Jamaica closer to recovery, arrived in Kingston today.”
The government is putting all efforts to restrict the spread, and vaccination drive is also helping, but the Country is in crisis—this is the time to shut down the nation for a while. Authority members are discussing this idea as it will affect the nation’s economy too.
