Arunachal Pradesh, India: With the highest turnout of residents for a flower planting initiative organised here yesterday, Ziro set a type state record.
More than 3000 passionate valley residents planted flowers along the Trans-Arunachal Highway’s 12-kilometre route in the direction of Upper Subansiri District. More than 1 lakh ornamental cosmos flower saplings were planted at the NH-13 TAH stretch until Pine Groove by individuals from all walks of life, starting from the entry point of the Ziro police check gate at Siibey. These individuals included citizens, students, panchayat leaders, gaon buras, gaon buries, members of various NGOs, CBOs, village clan members, market committee members, government staff and general masses.
The purpose of the mass flower planting programme, which was started by 13-Reru Kalung ZPM Subu Lento, was to “each one plant one” in an effort to make Ziro greener and cleaner.
Speaking at the event, local MLA and Minister of Agriculture and Allied Er. Tage Taki stated that maintaining Ziro Valley’s cleanliness and beauty is our top priority in light of the valley’s gradual transformation into a popular tourist attraction. He suggested that we work to make Ziro the top tourist attraction in the state.
As migratory birds were having trouble landing at the paddy fields due to annoyances created by reflections of the thin white sheets on the roofs, Taki also pleaded with the owners of the dwelling houses, granaries, and rest houses at the paddy fields to paint the roofs of their homes.
The plantation drive featured participation from notable figures such as MLA and Chairman of APB&OCWWB Nyato Dukam, Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime, former minister Padi Richo, former ACWA president Takam Padu, Retd. Chief Engineer Hage Appa, PWD Chief Engineer Dani Gambo, Director Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Subu Tabin, and PHC Managing Director and Contractor of NH-13 TAH Puna Hinda.
Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime released Rs 2 lakhs from the DC’s untied money for the upkeep and maintenance of the planted flowers. Kalung Reru panchayat leaders would continue the plantation push for one more week.
Ziro Valley is anticipated to amaze visiting tourists during the upcoming spring season when lovely cosmos flowers blossom throughout the valley, giving it a beautiful appearance suitable for a deserved tourist destination area.
