Barbados: To ramp up the vaccination in the region, the Immunisation Unit of Barbados has started sharing updates on the vaccinations sites.

While sharing the available number of polyclinics and vaccination sites on March 17, 2022, the unit mentioned stated, “The Immunisation Unit reminds the public that COVID-19 vaccines will be available at a number of polyclinics and vaccination sites on Thursday, March 17, 2022.”

As per the Barbadian Immunisation Unit, the locations and times of vaccination on Thursday are as follows:

  • Branford Taitt Polyclinic, St Michael – 9:30 am to 3:00 pm
  • Harbour Industrial Park (Building No. 2), St Michael – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Christ Church Parish Church Hall, Christ Church – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Glebe Polyclinic, St George – 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
  • Edgar Cochrane Polyclinic, St Michael – 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm

The health unit further informed, “The COVID-19 vaccines – AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sinopharm, and Johnson & Johnson will only be available at the polyclinics and vaccination centres at the scheduled times.”

It further outlined that students aged between 12 to 18 may visit any of the locations listed to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

“After six months of the administration of second vaccine dose, the eligible population have the booster shots for AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccine at the vaccine sites. The booster doses of Pfizer vaccine will be available for population aged between 12 years and above,” it further stated while informing about the administration of booster doses in the country.

According to the statics by the health authorities, the public health laboratory has carried out 600,328 tests since February 2020 and recorded 57,348 COVID-19 cases (26,582 males and 30,766 females).

As of March 15, 2022, under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 160,703 (70.4 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 150,471 (55.5 per cent of the total population or 65.9 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
