ICC T20 World Cup trophy lands in Saint Lucia, fans excited

Castries, Saint Lucia: The tourism authority of Saint Lucia welcomed the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy to the island nation. The arrival of the trophy has raised excitement among cricket lovers who are eagerly waiting and hoping to see the West Indies Cricket team lift that prestigious trophy.

The T20 World Cup trophy is on its global tour in order to give an opportunity to all cricket lovers to interact with it. The journey of the tour began from New York and following that it graced the shores of the Caribbean nation which includes, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and Saint Lucia respectively. 

The visit of the trophy to the island nation marks a momentous occasion for all cricket enthusiasts across the world as Saint Lucia is one of the six Caribbean destinations that will be hosting the T20 World Cup 2024. 

The World Cup trophy made its way to the Governor General’s Residence on 19th April 2024. The trophy was graciously carried by Darren Sammy OBE, the ICC Ambassador of Saint Lucia and former 2-time Cricket World Cup Champion. 

Along with that, it was also accompanied by renowned delegates which include, the Minister of Sports of Saint Lucia, Kenson Casimir, and the cricket legend, Johnson Charles. 

Following that, the trophy made its stop at the Millet Primary School in order to reminisce the golden memories and time period of Johnson Charles which he had spent there. After that, the trophy was taken to Constitution Park and provided the citizens with a chance to have a glance at the trophy and cherish the moment by clicking alongside it and the living legend of Saint Lucia who has contributed a lot to cricket, Daren Sammy. 

During the event, several local artists graced the occasion with their electrifying performances and the tourism authority also conducted several activities with the vision to make the visit of all the local citizens and the travellers memorable. 

Notably, Saint Lucia will host six games of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 which promises to offer all the spectators with best amenities in order to enhance their entertainment. The games that will be held in Saint Lucia include, 

15th June – Australia vs Scotland 

16th June – Sri Lanka vs Netherlands 

17th June – West Indies vs Afghanistan 

18th June – B1 vs C2 

20th June – B1 vs D1

23rd June – B2 vs A1
