Guyana: A lady and a man dies after being stung by bees

Guyana: Two individuals died on the island of Guyana after being attacked by bees on Thursday. 

Among two, one was a 58-year-old housewife who died after she was attacked by a swarm of bees, and the other was a 57-year-old John Sutherland, who died after being attacked by bees in – Eversham Village, Corentyne, the Police. 

The Police authorities further informed that an autopsy on Dorothy Adams from Ratter Dam East Bank Berbice – (EBB) was expected to be done on Friday after she was declared dead at the – New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

Her husband, – Vishnu Persaud, is reported to have also been stung when he tried to rescue her wife. 

As per to the media reports, Sutherland was in the company of 2 farmers when they were being attacked. 

In the meantime, when two farmers escaped, Sutherland, who had a physical disability, was unable to escape from the bees and was later found dead, with stings of bees all about his body. 

Many cases of these types are being reported throughout the world. Individuals need to be more careful.  

Treatment for bees stings – 

Bee stings are treated with ice or cold compresses as per to the traditional method to help reduce pain and swelling. Anti-inflammatories such as – Motrin or Advil may also help. One can treat itching and redness with hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion. 

Baking soda and toothpaste, apple cider vinegar have been known to aid neutralize bee venom and ease swelling and pain. One needs to pour apple cider vinegar into a basin and soak the afflicted area for at least – 15 minutes. One can also utilize a piece of cloth by first soaking it in the basin and then dabbing it onto the affected area. 

Removing a honeybee’s stinger quickly and care can lessen the amount of venom, released into the body. A fast, thorough removal means one should experience lesser pain and other symptoms. By simply scraping the stinger out with a – fingernail, credit card, or another straight edge usually does the job.
