Grenadian Prime Minister receives his booster shot

Saint George’s, Grenada: The Prime Minister of Grenada – Dr Keith Mitchell, received his booster COVID-19 shot yesterday.
PM Mitchell took social media platform and cited, “My friends, today I received my COVID-19 booster shot, which was administered by Nurse Lyons”.
“Having consulted with the Acting CMO and based on recent guidance that recommends the booster shot for persons who received two doses of AstraZeneca, I thought it best to bolster my immunity to COVID-19”, the prime minister further added.
He emphasized the significance of taking the COVID-19 vaccine, noting that he is convinced that vaccination continues to be the best tool one can have available in the fight against COVID-19.
Following the statement, the prime minister further noted that “I am guided by the science which shows that the vaccine prevents severe disease, hospitalization and even death. Therefore, I continue to encourage Grenadians to opt for the best shot and get vaccinated”.
PM Mitchell added that the COVID-19 vaccination will protect the citizens and their loved ones too, noting, “it will help safeguard livelihoods as we find the balance in living with COVID-19 and ultimately, it will protect your country, as its development process will not be negatively impacted by lockdown which are likely to occur if there is a spike in cases”.
Apart from this, he also encouraged the general public to take their shots of the vaccine as soon as possible.
The statistics depict that so far, a total of 38,205 individuals in Grenada are vaccinated atleast with one shot which is around 34 per cent of its population.
On the other hand, a total of 31,417 individuals (which is around 27.9 per cent of its total population) have received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and are fully vaccinated now against the contagious virus.
While one of the citizens commented on PM’s Facebook post and wrote, “Congratulations, it is very important that the people of Grenada get vaccinated; it is the only possible solution, my respects”.
