Saint George’s, Grenada: Grenada Public School District has collaborated with the Mississippi State Department of Health in order to offer free COVID-19 testing to the students.
This initiative has been taken to ensure the safety of the students, so that their study is not affected. The tests facility will be available only for the students who are not having any symptoms of the viral disease.
Furthermore, the parents of a child can sign their consent option, which will permit the school authorities to conduct the COVID-19 tests.
Superintendent Dr David Daigneault on this partnership underscored, “We have nurses at all of our schools, so we are in a position that we can make this very convenient for our parents in order to help our students maintain safety”.
The Superintendent further added that this initiative will eventually will faster the testing and its results, adding, “Before school begins each morning, we are within the school community, and we are testing”.
Meanwhile, this initiative of the Grenada Public School District is receiving huge appreciation from the students, teachers as well as from the nurse practitioner in the schools.
As per the statistics, the Caribbean island has recorded a total of 8,966 confirmed cases of the deadliest COVID-19 virus, while a total of 201 individuals lost their lives to the mutant.
In terms of the COVID-19 vaccination, in total, 41,767 individuals are partially vaccinated by receiving at least the first jab of the COVID-19 WHO-approved vaccines, which counts for around 37.1% of the total population.
On the other hand, there are a total of 36,056 people who have taken their required number of the COVID-19 vaccines and are now fully inoculated against the deadliest virus. This figure counts for 32% of the total targeted population of Grenada.
