Grenada: Five students and two faculty members of the College’s Robotics Team left Grenada on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, to participate in the FIRST Global Challenge to be held October 13-16, 2022, in Geneva, Switzerland.
The students who will proudly represent the country are Symiah Grey, Deja Bernard, Jaydon Sylvester, John Gilkes and Kadine Pascal.
This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the participating students to display their robotics skills set under this year’s event title: Carbon Capture. The students will utilise Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to find solutions to combat major carbon pollution and reduce the carbon footprint in Grenada.
Ministry of Education of Grenada also congratulated the team for their participation and wished them luck for the upcoming competition.
Besides Grenada, the Commonwealth of Dominica also sent its Robotics team of students to participate and shine in the FIRST Global Robotic Competition.
Before leaving from Dominica, the team met with Prime Minister of Dominica – Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and had a fruitful discussion. “I welcomed the team members on Friday for a pep talk and wished them luck for the competition. It was my pleasure chatting with the young innovators who are the future of our country and will contribute as future problem solvers. Let us join hands to wish them every success in the competition,” commented Prime Minister Skerrit.
