Grenada: Agriculture Ministry to conduct 6th census in Sep 2023

St George’s, Grenada: The Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Co-operatives of Grenada will be conducting its 6th Agriculture Census commencing in September 2023.

As per the update by the ministry, the purpose of the census is to collect relevant data from farmers and other entities in the agricultural sector for policy and planning purposes.
This census is being conducted under the Statistics Act Cap 311 of the revised Laws of Grenada 2010.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Co-operatives is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified nationals to fill temporary positions as Supervisors/Enumerators for the 2023 Agriculture Census.

Reportedly, the census Supervisors will be responsible for the following:

i. Check questionnaires for missing information and/ or errors to ensure that all questions are covered and responses correctly recorded.
ii. Make spot checks as a follow-up to ensure respondents are staying within the Enumeration District assigned.
iii. Undertake any other duties as may be assigned.
Enumerators will be responsible for data collection and will be required to: Collect relevant and accurate data from all farmers/farming households / farm-related institutions within the Enumeration District assigned.

Enumerators should:
i. Possess a minimum of 4 CXC subjects, inclusive of English and Mathematics. Agriculture Science or the CVQ in Agriculture will be an asset.

Successful applicants for Supervisor should:
i. Possess a minimum of an associate degree in agriculture or a related field.

Both Enumerators and Supervisors should be:
i. Computer and electronic devices literate.
ii. Proficient in Microsoft Office or word, Excel and the use of relevant software or devices.
iii. Be physically fit and be willing to work outside of normal working hours, including Public Holidays, evenings, and weekends.
iv. Successfully complete the Enumerators/Supervisor training course and pass the end-of-training exam.

According to the official update, interested nationals meeting the stated qualifications should complete the short electronic form at https://tinyurl.com/543dsfb2, and under # 8, state the 2023 Agriculture Census or send an application to planning@moa.gov.gd, or registry@moa.gov.gd, subject line – 2023 Agriculture Census.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture of Grenada informed that the deadline for submission of applications is Friday, 18th August 2023. “Training for successful applicants will be conducted during the period 11th to 15th September 2023 in Grenada and 25th to 29th September 2023 for Carriacou and Petiti Martinique,” it informed the general public.

It also stated that only successful applicants will be acknowledged.
