Govt of Guyana receives Pfizer vaccines shipments from Spain
The Ministry of Health of Guyana informed that the Government of Guyana received a shipment of Pfizer Vaccines from the Government of Spain.

Georgetown, Guyana: The Ministry of Health of Guyana informed that the Government of Guyana received a shipment of Pfizer Vaccines from the Government of Spain, which will be administered to children and adults as part of the COVID-19 campaign on March 20, 2023.
The shipment of the vaccines was facilitated through the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) COVAX Mechanism. Dr Narine Singh, the Chief Medical Officer attached to the Ministry of Health, received the donation on behalf of the Minister of Health from Ambassador Fernando Norego of Spain and extended gratitude to the Government of Spain for the kind donation.
The donation consists of 4,800 doses of the vaccine which will be allocated to children ages 5 to 11, and another 8,640 will be administered to adults ages 18 and above.
The handing over ceremony held at the Ministry of Health’s Kingston Bond was attended by Dr Luis Felipe Codina, Representative of the Pan American Health Organisation; Dr Janice Woolford, Specialist in Family and Community Health; Dr Oneka Scott, Maternal and Child Officer and other officials.
The ministry earlier shared an update about the interaction of Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony with two visiting professors from Savannah State University. Savannah State University (SSU) is located in Savannah, Georgia, United States.
According to the update, it was founded in 1890. SSU offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of fields, including business, education, engineering, social sciences, and more.
Additionally, it stated that the university is known for its programs in marine science and aviation, with the latter offering a Bachelor of Science degree in professional aviation and a Master of Science degree in aviation science. The Ministry of Health is exploring a number of partnerships with SSU.
