Dominica: The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has commissioned a Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Complex in Massacre on August 7, 2022 (Sunday).

Dominica: The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has commissioned a Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Complex in Massacre on August 7, 2022 (Sunday). The worth of the project was 2.5 million dollars.
Minister of Sports, Culture, Community Development Roselyn Paul said that this Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Complex would help in the upliftment of the sports sector of Dominica. He further informed that the sports complex would have a seating capacity of around 500, and the seats will be comfortable and moveable.
Furthermore, she stated that this facility would have two changing rooms, including showers. It also has a restroom facility for the audience and a state-of-the-art electronic clock. The facility is ready to use, and the government of Dominica is looking forward to full engagement.
Sports Minister stated, “We have heard the cry of sportspersons involved in basketball, netball and basketball, the difficulties they faced to compete on surfaces which posed dangers. We have heard the cries of organizers who had to cancel their events due to rain. Our government has been responding.”
“The construction of such facilities is important for the country, and the facility will ensure that players can grow in their physical and advanced technical abilities,” Paul added.
During the ceremony, the minister informed that the government of Dominica had been working to construct an outdoor facility. She encouraged the younger population of Dominica to participate in and promote sports tourism.
Rayburn Blackmoore, Member of Parliament for the Mahaut Constituency, mentioned that the complex is capable of hosting sports events even during unfavourable weather conditions. Minister highlighted that commissioning of this new facility will be truly magnificent and will totally contribute to the enhancement of the sports sector. The facility also compromises basketball, netball and volleyball courts.
“I feel a great sense of satisfaction, pride, gratitude, and indeed much emotion to be standing before you on such a momentous occasion,” said Parliament Representative Rayburn Blackmoore.
