Emirates signs agreement with the Bahamas to boost island’s tourism sector

Nassau: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Public Service penned down a preliminary agreement with the world’s largest airline service provider, Emirates, to boost the tourism sector of the island country. Under this agreement, Emirates will be seen promoting the Caribbean destination among its customers across its global network. 

This is indeed a step in the right direction that will not only boost the tourism sector of the Bahamas but also assist the COVID-19 hit economy in reviving. This agreement was signed in Dubai, UAE, by the chairman and chief executive of the Emirates Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed and Bahamas’ Minister of Foreign Affairs and Public Service, Frederick Mitchell. 

Among the other officials from both the countries present during the signing ceremony were – Adnan Kazim – chief commercial officer of Emirates; Salem Obaidalla – senior vice president of commercial operations for the Americas at Emirates; and Tony Joudi – Ambassador of the Bahamas to the UAE.

Meantime, Sheikh Ahmed noting the significance of this agreement, noted, “Globally, Emirates plays a pivotal role in boosting tourism to various destinations by providing travellers with reliable, convenient and comfortable flight options for their travel”. 

“We are so glad that we are getting the opportunity to work with the Bahamas to strengthen transport links and to support the nation to welcome tourists from around the world. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership”.  

The foreign minister asserted, “The Bahamas is really an unmatched destination offering a wide variety of leisure adventures that can appeal to every visitor. We are grateful for the support offered by Emirates, and we also look forward to welcoming tourists from the UAE and other global markets to our island”. 

The statistics of the latest report shows that the Bahamas has witnessed a decline of 54.6% visitors arrival during the time period of the previous eight months of last year. Although, the statistics got a little sounder with the passage of months.
