Dr Terrance Drew elected to lead St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party

St Kitts and Nevis got its new leader – Dr Terrance Drew, amid the elections which took place during the National Conference of the party at St Kitts Marriott on Sunday. 

While. Dr Geoffrey Hanley and Konaris Maynard will serve in St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party as its two deputy leaders. Previously, Dr Drew was the chairman of the party.  

Dr Drew, while expressing his gratitude and thanking all the voters, cited, “Just a quick message at this time following the announcement of National Leader of the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party to say thank you, comrades, We are all in this together as one ‘For The Good We Can Do’ as our great party’s motto says, Stay focused”. 

The other two candidates who were in the race for the leadership of the oldest party were – Dr Georffrey Hanely and Konaris Maynard on Sunday, which was an all-day private session of the party.

For voting, each branch of St Kitts sent their 50 delegates. National Executive, Young Labour, Labour Women, and the St Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union also voted to elect the new leader for the 89-year-old political party. 

The Sunday’ session commenced at around 10 am, and the first polling cycle with the National Political Leader and Vice-chairs took place at 10:30 am.

Partys’ parliament representative from East Basseterre and now the Deputy Leader of the Party – Dr Geoffrey Hanley while congratulating Dr Drew, stated, “The delegates of our great St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party have spoken, and they have demonstrated their confidence in our newly minted Party Leader, Dr Terrance Drew”. 

Drew’s competitors also congratulated him; Konaris Maynard asserted, “Congratulations to the new SKNLP Leader Cde Dr Terrance Drew. I also extend congratulations to Dr Geoffrey Hanley, who will serve with me as the new two deputy leaders of the Labour Party”. 

Apart from this, the party’s new leader appreciated the efforts of – Dr Denzil Douglas for serving the party so long.
