The President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali attended the XII Annual Consultation with Caribbean Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank on Saturday, 24th February, 2024. During the meeting, he shed light on the availability of new ferry services in order to provide relief to the passengers.

Georgetown, Guyana: The President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali attended the XII Annual Consultation with Caribbean Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank on Saturday, 24th February, 2024. During the meeting, he shed light on the availability of new ferry services in order to provide relief to the passengers.

Caribbean nations are all set to provide new ferry services in the nation between Guyana, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago to ensure safe and comfortable travel for visitors. The services are expected to launch in the next three months.

The meeting was conducted in the Marriott Hotel in Kingston, Georgetown, Guyana. With the launch of these services, President Irfaan Ali highlighted the willingness of the regional leaders to work together and work for the development of the nation. He named this collaboration a “coalition of the willing.”

It was also mentioned by the Ministry of Public Works that the leaders of the nation met on 15th February in Trinidad where they discussed ferry service preparations. These services will focus on reducing the region’s food import bill, creating job opportunities, environmental development and promoting transportation facilities.

Moreover, President Irfaan Ali is chairing the 46th Regular meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community. The meeting is being conducted at the National Cultural Centre in Georgetown, Guyana.

This meeting was attended by many leaders of Caribbean nations including, Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit, Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Philip J Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados, Dr Keith Rowley, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and many more.

All these Caribbean heads will conduct a meeting and discuss various measures such as climate change, food and nutrition security, development in regional transportation, global and hemispheric issues and food and nutrition security.

The main objective of the meeting is to ensure development in all the sectors of the nation. Such meetings will also play a huge role in forming good relations between all Caribbean nations.

Various residents of the community took to their social media accounts and shared their views on the news.

One person with a Facebook account Abdul M Khan commented “I have always been looking for a ferry service between Guyana, Trinidad, and Barbados and other Caribbean islands.”

Another person with a Facebook account Allison Richards while expressing their wish commented the following “I wish we had one going to Jamaica from Trinidad. Also, St. Vincent so I could connect with my ancestors.”

“Hopefully they add other islands soon,” wrote Vanessa Clarke.
