Dominica to soon launch world’s longest cable car: Tourism Minister Denise Charles

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica’s Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles, made a big announcement while addressing the media at yesterday’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace.

The island will soon launch a new cable car system that will travel 4.5 miles above some of the “Nature Island’s” most breathtaking ecological wonders, earning the small nation a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s largest detachable cable car.

Another update was shared by the Minister of Tourism during the conference, which outlined that travelling to Dominica will become easy and hassle-free. She announced that Dominica is also preparing to open a new international airport. With its pristine, unspoiled natural beauty, Dominica is on track to become the world’s most sustainable small island nation.

It is worth noting that the International Airport will be climate resilient and will pave the way towards sustainability. The island country is on its way to becoming the world’s first climate-resilient nation that has been emphasising sustainability.

Furthermore, the cable car project has been regarded as prominent and important for the development and growth of the nation in terms of Tourism.

This project has been considered a game changer as it is anticipated that this project will bring a new level of excitement along with adventure to the tourism sector of Dominica.

The local authorities have estimated that the tourism footfall will increase by three times after the completion of the cable car project.

According to the construction company Doppelmayr, the world’s leading cable car construction company, Dominica will have the world’s longest monocable cable car. The estimated total length of the cable car will be 6.6 kilometres and will take the tourists on a mesmerising journey. The company has 131 years of construction experience in building, managing and operating cable cars across the world. Doppelmayr is well known for the installation of some world-famous cable cars, including the Mi Teleférico in La Paz, Bolivia.
