Dominica joins Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

Dominica to join the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, the decision was taken after Dominican Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit met Robert Floyd, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO).

“The meet was important step, and I wholeheartedly welcome Dominica. The partnership will mark beginning of new era, and I am further looking for strengthening the norms against nuclear testing together,” Robert Floyd stated.

Dominican Prime Minister also expressed his pleasure to meet the Executive Secretary of the CTBTO and wrote, “This morning, I met with Dr Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Preparatory Commission. We discussed the objectives of the CTBTO to prevent nuclear proliferation and promote disarmament, to contribute to a safer and more secure world”.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed about the objective of the organization in the prevention of the testing of the nuclear bomb.

The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty was established during a conference in 1994 in Geneva, and United Nations General Assembly adopted it later. The objective behind the treaty was to make the world a safe and secure place to live and ban using nuclear explosions.

The Comprehensive-Test-Ban Organisation (CTBTO) is headquartered in Vienna.
