Dominica: Dennison ‘Dice’ Joseph crowns Calypso Monarch for 10th time

Dominica: Dennison ‘Dice’ Joseph won his 10th Calypso Monarch Title on Saturday, 10th February 2024, at Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt. The Calypso Grand Finals is a part of Mas Domnik 2024.

It is to be noted that Trilla G was the winner of Calypso Monarch 2023 and got dethroned by Dice. Dice defeated nine other formidable calypsonians to emerge victorious. The Dominica Calypso Association also extended congratulations to Dice on winning this prestigious title.

Dennison ‘Dice’ Joseph graced the stage with his captivating melodies and won the hearts of the audience through his electrifying and thrilling performances. The winning songs he performed were “Wanted” and “Bring Money.”

Moreover, Trilla- G, the winner of the last time, secured the second position. Meanwhile, Shanice and Joy were named the second and the third runners-up, respectively.

Notably, Dice has made it to history by winning the crown for the tenth time. He is now considered one of Dominica’s most celebrated Calypsonians. He has claimed the title in the years 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019 and now in 2024.

The other contestants who participated in the event included Liberator, Bobb, Tasha P, De Webb, Checker, and Black Diamond. All these calypsonians entertained the audience to a great extent and offered the visitors a night filled with fun, excitement and many remarkable performances.

Carnival has begun in Dominica, which promises to offer an unforgettable experience to its visitors filled with music, colour celebration and joy. Dominica will celebrate Traditional Monday, Old Time Sake, and Youth Mas today. Meanwhile, the Traditional Parade, Winners Parade, Pulse experience, Hysteria Mas, Fantasy Tribe, Amnesia, Thunderbird and Afrikulture Stilt Walkers will be conducted on Tuesday, 13th February 2024.

Various community members took to their social media accounts to congratulate the winner on his victory.

One person with a Facebook account, April Serenity Wood, commented, “He is a living legend. The man can’t be duplicated. He has a gift like no other. He will forever be our king. He came, he delivered, and he conquered. We love u, King Dicey 10 officially and counting.”
