Roseau: The cases of the COVID-19 virus are soaring in the Caribbean region. As per the report shared by the Ministry of Health, Dominica has recorded a total of 105 fresh infections of the COVID-19 mutant on January 11, 2022. With the arrival of the active cases in the island rises to 504.
Among the new cases reported by RT-PCR tests, five individuals tested positive, whereas the remaining 100 individuals tested positive for COVID via Rapid Antigen Testing.
Around 91 people were recovered and discharged from the hospital facilities on January 11, 2022. The total number of patients who are recovered from the deadliest COVID-19 mutant increases to 7,116. Meanwhile, as per the data shared in the health ministry’s report, a total of 47 people lost their lives to the contagious viral disease.
The statistics of the report further notes that since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic in Dominica, a total of 7667 confirmed infections have been recorded. In terms of the tests, till January 11, 2022, the island healthcare facilities have conducted 134888 COVID-19 tests, of which 30953 tests done are RT-PCR, while 101536 individuals have been tested by Rapid Antigen method.
Vaccination statistics of Dominica –
The COVID vaccination data underscores that as of Tuesday, January 11, 2022, there are a total of 30953 Dominican who are partially inoculated with taking the first dose of the WHO-approved COVID019 vaccine. On the other hand, the figures note around 28671 people in Dominica are fully immunised till January 11, 2022, while taking their required number of the coronavirus vaccines.
