Argentine aid group donated syringes and needles to Cuba.

Civil organizations in Argentina donated syringes and needles so that Cuba should move forward in its vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
380,000 syringes along with 3,59,000 needles have been donated to Cuba through state-run Cubana de Aviación airline. They were donated by the Union of Cuban Residents in Argentina, the Argentine Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, and other organizations.
By Soberana 02 and Abdala vaccination campaign against the spreading of the COVID-19 virus have been started by the Cuban government, which are expecting permission for emergency use from local health authorities in June.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said that their thanks to the Argentine Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and the Union of Cuban Residents in Argentina for sending medical help to support the vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
The initiative is joined to the campaign, “Your Solidarity breaks the blockade,” whose goal is to allocate funds to continue vaccinations.
Due to the lengthy embargo imposed by the US on Cuba a few decades ago, the supplies were being a great hindrance to medical equipment.
In the duration of the barrier, solidarity prevails, said, Rodríguez.
Cuban friendship associations in the United States, Chile, Spain, Italy and other countries have organized to obtain 20 million needles for the island.
In April, a Swiss government entity and the NGO MediCuba Europe gave emergency funding of US$600,000 for the acquisition of syringes.
Cuba is experiencing a rebound in Covid-19 infections with 143,323 cases and 965 deaths, though these figures are supposed low given the regional context. The island’s health authorities believe in immunizing the island’s whole population during this year national vaccines.
On 10 March, the Ministry of Health approved the first case in Jamaica, a woman who visited from the United Kingdom on 4 March. The health minister announced that the patient has been in isolation since 9 March after showing respiratory signs.
