Commonwealth: The Commonwealth Secretary General (CSG) Patricia Scotland participated in the planting ceremony at Marlborough House in London, United Kingdom on May 10, 2023. The tree-planting ceremony was marked in remembrance of Patsy Robertson. CSG Scotland was accompanied by former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Emeka Anyaoku.

The tweet by Commonwealth Secretary General mentioned, “Honoured to join the former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, in a tree-planting ceremony in remembrance of Patsy Robertson at Marlborough House.”
Furthermore, she praised Patsy Robertson for her dedicated work towards the Commonwealth and also highlighted about her efforts to improve the situation in South Africa. Who was Patsy Robertson?
Robertson, officially known as Patsy Blair Robertson, was born on August 28, 1933. She was a renowned Jamaican journalist and has also served as diplomat, representing Jamaica. She has played a major role for Commonwealth as Director of Information at the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Official Spokesperson for the Commonwealth from 1983 to 1994.
Robertson was involved with the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa, during the 1960’s. Following this, she left diplomatic services in Jamaica and joined in the year 1965, joined the media affairs of the Commonwealth Secretariat. She worked for the Commonwealth family for long 28 years.
