COVID in Antigua and Barbuda: 82 new cases reported, active toll stands at 780

Antigua & Barbuda has reported a total of eighty-two (82) additional cases of the COVID-19 virus on Thursday, January 27, 2022. With the arrival of these new cases, the total toll of the currently active cases has been increased to 780, as per the data shared by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Environment in its COVID-19 update report.

Out of these new cases, a total of ten individuals are present in the hospital facilities, whereas a total of 770 symptomatic persons have isolated themselves at their respective homes.

Three hundred and twenty-four (324) samples were processed by the healthcare facilities, out of which 82 individuals tested positive for the contagious viral disease. Meanwhile, the health ministry further informed that a total of Four hundred and twenty (420) individuals were recovered from the virus and discharged from the hospital facilities on January 27, 2022.

With this, the recovery rate for Antigua and Barbuda has risen to 5,617, as per the data shared in the report of the health ministry. A total of 127 new deaths have been recorded by the healthcare staff as of January 27, 2022.

Since the novel coronavirus emerged in the Caribbean island country, there are a total of 6,524 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 mutant have been reported till Thursday.

In terms of the COVID-19 vaccination, the health ministry notified that there are a total of 2,839 individuals who are partially inoculated while taking one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, as of January 27, 2022. On the other hand, there are a total of 60,358 persons in Antigua and Barbuda who are fully vaccinated against the deadliest virus by taking required jabs of the WHO-approved coronavirus vaccines to date.

Meanwhile, the health ministry has urged the citizens to strictly abide by the COVID-19 health protocols and guidelines while getting themselves vaccinated.
