Antarctica: Covid-19 is a contagious disease that docked in a Continent Antarctica too. Due to coronavirus’s arrival, Chile’s military declared proper quarantine for everybody, especially the places closely surrounded by ocean and icebergs.
“At least 36 people had been infected at its Bernardo O’Higgins base, including 26 army personnel and 10 civilian contractors conducting maintenance at the base,” added Chile’s armed forces. Whereas Army said that the “Base personnel are already properly isolated and monitored continuously by health authorities in Magallanes, in Chilean Patagonia, adding there had so far been no complications.”
Strategies to stop the spreading of the virus
Military planned some strategies to keep the virus out from spreading. They are cancelling tourism, scaling back activities and staff and locking down facilities. “About 1,000 people at 38 stations across the frozen continent had safely navigated the southern hemisphere winter without incident” estimated by Researchers with the British Antarctic Survey. On the other hand, The Magallanes region, the take-off point for many boats and planes headed to the continent.
How many COVID-19 cases reported in Antarctica?
Reports say” the first COVID-19 cases had been reported in mid-December. Then three cases of COVID-19 among 208 crew members of a ship had sailed in the Antarctic region between 27’Nov-10’Dec. Antarctica hits its first outbreak that created terror amidst the people. The health and army officials are more petrified as they are accountable for others. The pressure of responsibility is more than we can think.
Consequently, earlier reports declared that coronavirus would not reach the End Of Earth ‘Antarctica.’ But its sudden influx changed the whole scenario. The environment actually incremented the risk of infection, which again is unfortunate. Now the question arises will health equipment and proper resources will reach on time to this continent or not? Or the count of coronavirus patients will upsurge or down surge with time?
