Caribbean Community Secretariat launches Slogan Competition to mark 50th anniversary of CARICOM
The Caribbean Community Secretariat (CCS) launched the 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition to commemorate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the CARICOM.

Caribbean: July 4th, 2023, will mark the 50th anniversary of the Caribbean Community. The Caribbean Community Secretariat (CCS) launched the 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition to commemorate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). This competition aims to raise awareness and sensitize nationals of the Community on the role, importance and achievements of the Caribbean Community in the Regional Integration development agenda over the past 50 years. The slogan competition also aims to raise interest and actively engage nationals in the celebration of the Caribbean Community’s Anniversary in a manner that encourages creativity, innovation and learning while fostering and infusing the CARICOM identity and spirit of Community and unity.
The Caribbean Community – CARICOM has mentioned some guidelines for the participation in the slogan competition.
A) Eligibility
Entrants must be nationals of a CARICOM Member State or Associate Member as of the date of the deadline for submission of entries to the Slogan Competition. Participants below the age of 18 must receive the consent of a parent or guardian.*(Nationals under the age of 18 cannot enter into a contract with the Secretariat.)
B) Slogan Topic
The Slogan should uniquely communicate the CARICOM Identity and Spirit; reflect the lived experiences of a national of the Community; and evoke pride in the achievement of the Community over the past 50 years, as well as build excitement for CARICOM’s next 50 years.
C) General Guidelines for Participation
The Slogan Competition is open to all nationals of the CARICOM Member States and Associate Members.
The Slogan may be submitted in either English, French or Dutch using a maximum of eight (8) words.
Staff, Spouses and Children of staff of the CARICOM Secretariat, Regional Institutions and the Committee of CARICOM Ambassadors are not eligible to enter the competition.
Slogan entries must be submitted using the Entry Form and showing the: Name, telephone number and email address of the applicant.
Entries missing any of the above information will not be considered.
Submission is limited to one (1) entry per entrant.
Technical details and requirements of the Slogan: Slogan must be original and unpublished; Slogan should be submitted with a brief explanation of its meaning and the main ideas represented.
The slogan competition will be judged according to the following criteria: Relevance to the vision and goals of the Caribbean Community; Originality; Impact, and presentation.
D) Submission
To be eligible for consideration, the Slogan must be submitted to the National CARICOM 50th Anniversary Planning Committee at npc.opm.slu@gmail.com on the Slogan Competition Entry Form and signed by each entrant no later than September 9th 2022.
Submission of applications after the last date will not be considered.
E) Recognition of Slogan Winner
The winning Slogan will be featured on official documents, paraphernalia and promotional items during the Community’s 50th-anniversary celebration. The winner of the Slogan competition will be awarded a cash prize of US$500.00 (Five Hundred United States Dollars), invited to a photo opportunity with the CARICOM Secretary-General, and will be featured on CARICOM Secretariat’s social media platforms.
F) Intellectual Property Rights
The Slogan submitted must be unpublished and exclusively created for this competition.
Entrants permit the CARICOM Member States, the CARICOM Secretariat and Regional Institutions to use their submission in print and digital media for marketing and promotional purposes.
Each entrant accepts that all entries become the property of the Caribbean Community, and copyright of or all intellectual property rights in the Slogan will vest exclusively in the Caribbean Community. Thus, each entrant further understands that if her/his Slogan is selected as the winning Slogan, s/he will relinquish all claims, rights (including any moral rights), and benefits related to the display, modification, reproduction, publication, distribution, use, and other exploitations of the work, other than the prize awarded to the winning entry. Each entrant also affirms that the submission is her/his original work, has not been copied from others and does not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.
G) Terms and Conditions
By participating in The Caribbean Community 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition, each entrant represents and warrants that s/he has read and agreed to be bound by The Caribbean Community 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition General Guidelines. Each entrant agrees that her/his entry becomes the property of the Caribbean Community, and the copyright and all intellectual property rights in the Slogan shall be vested exclusively in the Caribbean Community. Thus, each entrant further understands that if her/his Slogan is selected as the winning Slogan, s/he will relinquish all claims, rights (including any moral rights), and benefits related to the display, modification, reproduction, publication, distribution, use, and other exploitations of the work, other than the prize awarded to the winning entry. Each entrant also affirms that the Slogan submitted is her/his original work, has not been copied from others and does not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.
H) Acceptance
Submission of the application to this competition forms express consent as well as acceptance by each entrant that s/he has read and agrees to be bound by all stated guidelines, rules, terms and conditions herein and that the judges’ decision is final.
