Canada donates 30,000 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to Barbados

Barbados added 30,000 AstraZeneca doses to the arsenal against COVID-19 virus. Next, 15,000 Barbadians would get fully vaccinated in the coming days. The health officials of Barbados stated that they had secured a shipment of 30,000 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca as the cooperation of the Canadian Government.
At the time Motley -led administration is grappling with increasing numbers of COVID-19 infections on the island. This donation by the Canadian Government would put relaxation to the Government. Barbados had recorded cases of Delta variants in the past few days. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, while receiving the gift from the airport, said that Barbados and Canada are tied in strong ties of cooperation. She said that this donation would be another example of the fruits of their friendship.
PM Mottley said, “There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, as I have said repeatedly, that vaccination is the most important and potent layer of protection available to our people. The only way we will get our economy firing again at the level that is necessary to support our society is to get our people vaccinated. This gift from the Government of Canada will help to propel us along this path, and I encourage every Barbadian to take advantage of it as quickly as possible.”
According to the reports on COVID-19 updation, Barbados registered the 51st death of an older woman of Barbados. The older woman was of 65 years in age.
The Canadian Armed Forces have provided airlift to transport COVID-19 related humanitarian and medical supplies to the temporary Integrated Regional Logistic Hub in Barbados.
Barbados is viewing Canada’s donation of the 30,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the form of acceptance and affection of Barbados’ position on the need for the equitable distribution of vaccines.
