Brantley outlines govt’s investment to boost healthcare system in Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis: To boost the medical education and nurses students in the colleges, the Concerned Citizen’s Movement (CCM) led Nevis Island Administration (NIA) has invested significantly. As per the statement given by Premier and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for St Kitts and Nevis Mark Brantley, citing that the authorities had incredibly bolstered the healthcare system by enhancing the medical education and human capacity across the nation.

Nevis Premier has notified the above information through his Facebook post and noted,” The CCM led NIA has enormously invested in bosting the human capacity in Nevis’ healthcare system”.

While outlining the new administration go the new staff, Mark Brantley underscored that the CCM has hired three physical therapists, including two were from the Philippines and one from Cuba.

On the other hand, the Nevis authorities have also recruited three additional specialists; one out of them or Internist, one for Anesthesiologist, and the remaining one was the expert of OBGYN.

Premier Brantley also highlighted the recruitment of nurses, which exclaimed that the authorities had hired seven nurses, five from the Philippines, one from India and one from St Vincent. On the other hand, they have hired five nurses belonging to Nevis in the medical colleges.

As per the status of the nursing programme offered by the Nevis administration, Brantly underlined that two nurses had completed midwifery at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), while the three students in nursing have been enrolled in January 2022, and eight local nurses have been entered in the Bachelor of Nursing programme.

While emphasising the growth of the medical sector, Foreign Minister stressed,” The government has provided the financial assistance to all the local nurses during their training programme such as payment of stipend so that they complete their study without taking tension of doing work”.

He further exclaimed that they had enrolled six students in the Nursing Assistant programme of Nevis; on the other hand, the midwifery programme has included three more students.

Premier Brantley also mentioned that they had recruited one radiographer from Cuba to boost the medical facilities in Nevis. Moreover, the authorities have hailed help for other countries as they have financially supported two nurses from Jamaica.
