Thimphu, Bhutan: Bhutan will host Drakul’s Literate Festival from August 4–6. The Bhutan Live said that it is an annual celebration of literature and the arts in Bhutan, which is under the royal patronage of the country’s queen mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, who is also a well-known author.

According to a press article, prominent authors from around the world, like Pico Iyer, Ruskin Bond, and Vikram Seth, as well as current writers from Bhutan, like Aum Kunzang Choden, have visited the festival during the past 10 years.

Due to Bhutan’s Queen Mother’s support of and editing of several books of poetry and essays on topics important to the nation, the festival has been a productive platform for the exchange of literature and the creative arts as well as a celebration of India and Bhutan’s two cultures.

The biography of her father, Yab Ugyen Dorji, Rainbows and Clouds, written by Bhutan’s Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, provides a fascinating and personal look at life and times in the isolated eastern Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan during this century. According to a report by The Bhutan Live, the book also provides insight into Bhutanese culture, society, and history.

According to the news article, her second book, Treasures of the Thunder Dragon- A Portrait of Bhutan, is a blend of travels, history, and personal biography. A description of the Druk Wangyel Complex, which contains Lungchutse Lhakhang, 108 Druk Wangyel Stupas, the Druk Wangyel Lhakhang, and the Druk Wangyel Tshechu, is provided in the third book by Bhutan’s Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck.

Additionally, according to the news article, Bhutan’s Queen Mother is dedicated to improving the lives of her country’s citizens. Since 1999, she has continued to serve as the Ministry of Agriculture of Bhutan’s Chief Patron. Through the establishment of the Tarayana Foundation, she has launched a number of initiatives to raise the standard of living for people in Bhutan, particularly in the country’s rural areas.

According to The Bhutan Live report, The Tarayana Foundation works in rural Bhutanese villages to promote holistic community growth and development among underserved areas. Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, the Queen Mother of Bhutan, also works to preserve the environment and supports initiatives to do so, including national parks, biological corridors, and environmental protection programmes.
