Barbados: Vector Control Unit to conduct fogging to reduce breeding sites

Barbados: Under the observation of Caribbean Mosquito Awareness Week, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Barbados will conduct fogging exercises in various areas from May 13 to May 17. These exercises are conducted with the aim to reduce the mosquito breeding sites.

Barbados: Under the observation of Caribbean Mosquito Awareness Week, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Barbados will conduct fogging exercises in various areas from May 13 to May 17. These exercises are conducted with the aim to reduce the mosquito breeding sites.

The Vector Control Unit of Barbados has shared the fogging schedule that will be followed throughout the week.

Starting the fogging exercise from Monday that is May 13 the Unit will cover various districts in St Michael. The localities that will undergo fogging exercise are Chelston Cross Gap, Tamarind Avenue, Gooding Land and avenues, Chelston Avenue and Garden, Dalkeith Village, Bullens Avenue, Chapel Place, Kings Village, Deighton Road, Seamen Village, and Paddock Road and avenues.

The Vector Unit’s team will visit districts of Christ Church to spray its several areas on Tuesday, May 14. The areas that will be covered are Dayrells Road, Gooding Road, Brathwaite Gap, Overdene Drive, Plum Close, Environs and Ventnor Gardens.

The schedule has been made to keep it convenient for both the authorities as well as the residents.

For the rest of the week, the area of Christ Church will be on the list of the vector unit to complete the fogging.

The surrounding areas of Gibbons Boggs, Ealing Grove, Sebago Drive, Alexis Drive, Semicircular Drive, Pegwell Boggs Main Road, and Casuarina Drive will be targeted on May 15, Wednesday.

The schedule decided for May 16, Thursday, will follow spraying at the parish of Wilcox Ridge, Gibbons Terrace, Platinum Heights, Wilcox Hill, and Holbourne Terrace.

On May 17, Friday the fogging exercise will conclude by spraying at the communities of Pleasant View Drive, Ozone Drive, Sunrise Close and Drive, Windy Ridge, Country View Drive, Cane View Drive, Fair Winds Drive, Providence, Highway R, and environs.

The authorities of Vector Unit Barbados have shared that the fogging will take place every day from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM throughout the week. They have also advised the residents to let the spray enter their houses by keeping their doors and windows open. However, the children should be strictly kept indoors and not allowed to play outdoors during the spraying hours as it would lead to harmful results.

In case any area is left or the schedule is hampered due to unavoidable circumstances, the unit will cover that area anytime during the week.
