Barbados reports 175 new COVID cases
Barbados has reported a total of 175 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant, comprising 89 males and 86 females. So far, the island has reported a total of 7,576 confirmed cases of the deadliest mutant, according to the health ministry’s report till 25 September 2021.

Barbados: Barbados has reported a total of 175 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant, comprising 89 males and 86 females. So far, the island has reported a total of 7,576 confirmed cases of the deadliest mutant, according to the health ministry’s report till 25 September 2021.
As per to the report, there are 1,037 individuals who are in isolation till 25 September 2021, while three individuals lost life to the COVID-19 mutant. Three individuals who passed away on Saturday were all females, aged 50, 66, and 84, who had comorbidities and were also unvaccinated.
With these additional deaths, the toll of people who scummed to contagious COVID-19 outbreak has risen to 67.
Since the pandemic started in the island country, that is – in March 2020, Barbados has reported a total of 7,576 cases (3,736 males and 3,840 females). The public health laboratory has performed 308,840 tests.
Barbados COVID-19 situation report further states that so far, a total of 132,267 individuals have received their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, while a total of 101,857 individuals that is 37.6 per cent of the population, has received their second shot of the vaccine and are now fully vaccinated against the deadly virus.
Out of the 175 new cases registered, 43 out of them are under 18 years, and 132 individuals are 18 years older or above.

Prime Minister – Mia Amor Mottley, along with the health ministry, is urging the citizens to abide by the COVID-19 protocols/measures such as – wearing masks, sanitizing frequently and maintaining a social distance. She also urged the Barbadians to take their jabs of the vaccine as soon as possible so as to decrease the chances of transmission and assist the nation in achieving its target of herd immunity.
