Barbados reported the first double death from coronavirus

Barbados: Barbados reported the first double death from coronavirus; on the other hand, twenty-two new persons tested positive for coronavirus in Barbados on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

They were recognized from among the 785 tests administered by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on that day. Nineteen persons were recorded as recovered and were released from isolation. The island now has 375 active cases.

Barbados reported the first double death from coronavirus within a 24-hour period. Both deceased were inmates of the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for several days. The two citizens, a 55-year-old male and a 64-year-old female died within an hour of each other this morning.

The 22 new positives include 12 women and ten men. Five of the people are persons who were earlier sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for evaluation. The 17 other cases are all Barbadian citizens.

The total number of persons diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds remains at 362. Of these, 355 have redeemed, and the remaining seven patients are included in the active cases.

Barbados has reported 1,545 confirmed cases – 634 females, 911 males – and 1,158 persons have redeemed. There has been 12 coronavirus related deaths in Barbados as of January 30.

The Best dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has so far performed 102,948 tests. On the other hand, wearing masks from February 3 is mandatory in Barbados.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has recommended that all services related to rapid and PCR testing previously given out at the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory will now be open at the Wildey Gymnasium.

The new testing site will be presented to the public from Monday, February 1, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Additionally, there will be a fees of BDS $100 for the accelerated testing of outbound tourists to the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Cash will not be allowed, and therefore, persons will be demanded to pay to utilize credit or debit cards.
