There were also 21 new positive coronavirus cases reported on Thursday. They were recognized from among the 422 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Twenty-five people also recovered and were released from isolation. This brings the number of active cases in Barbados to 363.

The 21 new positives comprise 11 women and ten men. Seven of them would have been sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility previously for evaluation. The other 14 persons are Barbadians.

Of the total 361 persons diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds, 355 have redeemed. The resting six persons are covered in the active cases count. Barbados has reported 1,498 confirmed cases – 609 females, 889 males – and 1,123 persons have redeemed. The public health laboratory has so far performed 101,675 tests.

Barbados resident Dave Mayers commented, “RIP to the dear departed. Condolences extended. Sadly there will be more, hopefully very few. Unlike a military war, there is no build-up to a ceasefire, and Covid-19 is not regional; we must administer prayer along with protocols and protection for all people; stay safe one and All.”

On the other hand, Nikita Rosi commented, “One of my family members waiting to see if someone whose works on the upstairs ward got the virus, unfortunately, I cannot say anymore because they will lose their job at the government hospital.”
