Antigua and Barbuda: PM Gaston Browne signs Booby Alley Social Housing Project agreement with China
Antigua and Barbuda: On behalf of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, Prime Minister Gaston Browne signed the official Booby Alley Social Housing Project agreement with the People’s Republic of China on August 18.

Antigua and Barbuda: On behalf of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, Prime Minister Gaston Browne signed the official Booby Alley Social Housing Project agreement with the People’s Republic of China on August 18, 2022 (Thursday). Through the housing project agreement, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the Chinese Government agree to construct 150 turnkey modality units.
Prime Minister Browne outlined that the day was historic was for the general public and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. “Today is a very historic day and a very important one as we sign the exchange of notes between the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and The People’s Republic of China to signify an agreement between both countries for the development of 150 two-bedroom properties at the Booby Alley area in Point. It is the first phase of a housing project which will span to other areas,” the minister quoted.
PM Browne further mentioned that this project would take the ongoing housing revolution to the Next Level.
At today’s signing ceremony, Prime Minister Browne was joined by Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin, Zhang Yanling, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Antigua and Barbuda, and Ambassador Clarence Pilgrim, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works.
Antigua and Barbuda’s bilateral relation with China:
Antigua and Barbuda and the Republic of China share diplomatic relations from January 1, 1983, less than two years after the Caribbean nation’s independence, under Deng Xiaoping and Prime Minister Vere Bird, respectively. China has supported Antigua and Barbuda’s bid to join the United Nations, and the relationship between both countries has been smooth since the beginning.
Both the countries have been witnessing the construction of much infrastructural upliftment through this bilateral relationship. It is believed that a number of projects have been undertaken in Antigua and Barbuda through bilateral investment.
