Annual Afro-Carib Festival to celebrate culture richness of Caribbean, Africa in Jamaica

The 4th Annual Afro-Carib Festival is all set to return to Jamaica on Saturday, Feb 17 2024, at the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater in Miramar, Florida. The event is to experience electrifying performances by Jamaica’s dancehall legend, Tony Rebel; Reggae Hitmaker Nadine Sutherland and Grammy Award Winner Kabaka Pyramid.

It is to be noted that Miramar Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis will host the event, which will be presented by Visit Lauderdale and Memorial Health Care System.

The other performers who will be gracing the event through their performances include Afrobeat star Fireboy DMI, Afro-creole konpa artist Kenny Haiti; Rap artist Yung Wylin who is renowned for his IG hit “Good Energy”; classic salsa artist David Lucca Jason Panton, DJ and culturalist from the Shrine and Dub Wise. This festival is where Black History Month and Reggae Month converge and promises an unforgettable experience for its visitors.

The visitors of the event will get to celebrate Black History Month and Reggae Month with various fun-filled activities, music, culture and cuisine from the Caribbean and the African Diaspora. Every year, the Afro-Carib Festival celebrates the combined cultures and shared bonds rooted in Caribbean islands and African origins.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Visit Lauderdale, Stacy Ritter, stated, “Visit Lauderdale is proud to support the City of Miramar and its incredibly popular Afro-Carib Festival, which will bring thousands of visitors to Southwest Broward for a fun and exciting day of celebrating music and culture from the Caribbean and African Diaspora. We are looking forward to supporting rich cultural events in our community and the Afro-Carib Festival has proven its importance to the South Florida economy.”

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis mentioned, “We’ve had major success with the last three years of the Afro-Carib Festival, and our fourth year will be even bigger and better. We have discovered that South Florida is excited and hungry for an entertainment event that offers this particular combination of musical genres, bringing the best of black music and culture together on one stage.”

He also mentioned that it is their honour that they are producing an event that celebrates the African Diaspora in such a beautiful way, which demonstrates different cultures within the Diaspora through music, culture, and food.

The event promises to offer fun-filled laughter and activities to all the visitors of the Annual Afro-Carib Festival.
