93,773 Barbadians are fully vaccinated

Barbados is having 4,931 active COVID-19 cases on the island. Out of which 92 are recently reported in the last 24 hrs. This shows the increasing positivity rate of COVID-19 in the country.

According to the COVID-19 updation report, there are 230 total Barbadians in isolation. The health department has tested 2,59,396 people, of which 4,931 were reported positive, 2,418 were female, and 2,513 were male. A total of 1,886 tests have been conducted in a single day.

In Barbados, 1,07,838 people received their first shot of vaccine and 93,773 have been fully vaccinated with getting 2 shots according to the present time. 34.6%population have been fully vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Immunisation Unit has advised that first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine are available at all operating vaccination centres.

To combat COVID-19, Barbados has received 33,600 doses of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility from PAHO.

As Barbados received another batch of AstraZeneca vaccines in its “arsenal” to fight the virus, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has disclosed that just under 2,300 people were inoculated yesterday.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 29

On Sunday, August 29, the school sites are Alexandra School, Queen’s Street, Speightstown, St. Peter, and the Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Cross Roads, St. Philip.

The only non-school site open on Sunday is Building No.2, Harbour Industrial Park, St. Michael.

MONDAY, AUGUST 30

The school sites which will open on Monday, August 30, are Harrison College, Crumpton Street, St. Michael; St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School, Richmond Gap, St. Michael; Princess Margaret Secondary School; Christ Church Parish Church Hall, Church Hill, Christ Church; the University of the West Indies Open Campus, Pine, St. Michael; The Lester Vaughan School, Cane Garden, St. Thomas, and Alexandra School.

The non-school sites are Building No.2, Harbour Industrial Park and the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic, Warrens, St. Michael.

The government had made sure that Barbados is in the fullest possible state of readiness for any COVID-19 spikes.

This assurance was given by Attorney General Dale Marshall while responding to a question during the COVID-19 Update and Press Conference.
