187 fresh cases of COVID reported in Dominica.

Roseau: The Ministry of Health and Wellness shared the COVID-19 update report of the island, as per to which, on Monday, January 24, 2022, Dominica recorded a total of 187 fresh infections of the novel coronavirus. The arrival of these additional cases has taken the total active count of COVID-19 cases in the Caribbean island to 726.

Out of these new cases, three individuals tested positive for COVID after being tested by RT-PCR, while the remaining 184 positive cases have been reported by the samples collected for Rapid Antigen Testing.

The data of the health ministry report further shares in total, 217 COVID-19 patients were recovered and discharged from the hospital facilities on January 24, 2022. At present, the total toll of so far recovered Dominicans has risen to 7,950.

The island country week witnessed deaths of three COVID-19 positive patients, taking the total number of deaths to fifty-one. Since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in Dominica, there have been a total of 8727 confirmed cases of the deadliest viral diseases recorded as of January 24, 2022.

According to the statistics of the report, a total of 143619 COVID-19 tests have been conducted at the healthcare facilities, so far, out of which 33164 tests done are the RT-PCR and the other 110455 individuals have been tested by Rapid Antigen Testing method.

Vaccination figures of the Caribbean island:

As of January 24, 2022, there are a total of 31236 individuals who are partially inoculated by taking at least one dose of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. On the other hand, according to the report’s data, there are a total of 28942 persons in Dominica who have taken their required number of vaccine jabs and are now fully immunised against the contagious virus.
