NaDMA Carriacou hosts engaging open house

Hillsborough, Carriacou: The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) Carriacou recently hosted an engaging open house aimed at raising awareness and preparedness levels among the community members. This news was shared in the public domain by the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government of Grenada on September 20, 2023.
The event was held on September 15, 2023 (Friday) at the Tourism Welcome Center grounds. Reportedly, it started from 9 am to 2 pm.
The NaDMA mentioned that the interested candidates came and gathered information on Hurricane Preparedness, Family Disaster plans and other Hazards.
The representatives from the Community Health Services, providing counselling, sugar and pressure testing, and staff from the youth department (Carriacou) were among the participants of the event. “Be prepared, be informed, be educated,” the Agency mentioned.
As per the update by the Ministry, Bernice Date, the Community Program Officer for NaDMA Carriacou, reiterating the importance of disaster preparedness, urged everyone in attendance to take the necessary measures to protect themselves and their loved ones and also pointed out that we are in the most active month of the hurricane season.
NaDMA officials said that the Agency remains committed to serving and protecting the community, ensuring that residents are well-prepared to face any challenges that may arise during the season.
As part of the open house, medical testing was provided by healthcare professionals. Information on youth programs was also shared by youth officers with the Division of Youth within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs.
This session was effectively fruitful and productive and assisted the general public of the area.
