Minister of State of Dominica, George updates about latest investment in agri sector

Dominica: Oscar George, Senator and Minister of State in the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, has recently announced an update about the latest investment in the agricultural sector by the government.
He informed that the government invested around $9 million to rehabilitate the critical farm roads.
“Recently, Government embarked on the rehabilitation of critical farm access roads with the signing of contracts valued over $9 million,” the minister stated.
He further informed that the farm roads in Calibishie, Grand Bay, Castle Bruce, Paix Bouche, and La Plaine were reconstructed by the government.
While providing a brief of the project, the minister informed that “The farm roads to be rehabilitated include –
Middle Ridge Feeder Road in Calibishie,
Morpo/Macaton Feeder Road in Grand Bay,
Formie Road in Castle Bruce,
Boplan Road in Paix Bouche, and
Agricultural Station Road in La Plaine.”
He further announced the upcoming farm projects and lauded the National Authorizing Officer for the European Development Fund for support in advancing the sector.
“Furthermore, works on an additional 4 Farm access roads are scheduled to commence in April 2022. We applaud the efforts of the National Authorizing Officer for the European Development Fund for the support in advancing the sector. These projects greatly assist us in attaining our overall goal of increasing the contribution of agriculture in Dominica’s GDP,” George was quoted.
