Jammu and Kashmir, India’s Doda: Vishesh Mahajan, the District Development Commissioner for Doda, Jammu and Kashmir and Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom on Tuesday officially opened the All-India Women Cricket Championship at the Doda Sports Stadium.

The reports have stated that the competition is being put on by the Government Degree College Doda’s Department of Sports and Physical Education, in association with the Sports & Fitness Hub, Doda.

In addition, the competition will feature eight teams total, including ones from Uttar Pradesh, Hyderabad, GDC Doda, and GMC Doda.

“Teams from Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Green Champs competed in the first game. By 84 runs, the UP squad defeated the Green Champs. The player of the game was determined to be Rashi Gupta,” noted the official.

Prof. (Dr) Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal Government Degree College Doda, Dr Ajaz Wani, Prof. Kewal Manhas, Prof. Satish Kumar, faculty members, and a sizable crowd of onlookers were present. The competition will go on through May 26 at the Doda Sports Stadium.

The DDC thanked the Department of Physical Education and Sports GDC Doda for organising such a motivating event while speaking to the athletes, he continued. 

He claimed that the competition offers the necessary stage for young people, particularly girls and women, to demonstrate their sporting skills.

Earlier, the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were welcomed by the College Principal. He underscored the significance of women’s emancipation and the need for such gatherings to spread the message of equality for all.

Army and Navy Cadets from the NCC presented the guard of honour to the dignitaries, which was created by Associate NCC Officer Sub Lt. Zain Batt.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports GDC Doda, under the direction of Dr Arjun Singh, the Sports Committee GDC Doda, under the direction of Prof. Manjeet Singh, and the Sports and Fitness Hub Doda, are in charge of organising the competition.
