While Steffy Timmerman pleaded guilty and was fined seventy-five thousand dollars.

The court was adjourned and the case will be picked up once again at 13 hrs on 28th December 2023.

As per the information, it was stated that two people were involved in the accident of pedestrian Vishnudat Ramlan at Hill Foot, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, on Saturday evening.

Vishnudat Ramlan is a 52-year-old and a resident of Kuru Kururu.

According to the sources, a motor car, PJJ 807, was involved in the accident, which was owned and driven by Jonathan Bailey and a motor car, PMM 2014, owned and driven by Steffy Timmerman, who did not have a driver’s license.

As per the enquiries, a motor car PMM 2014 was moving towards the East along the northern side of the highway when it was alleged by the driver of motor car PMM 2014.

While driving the car, Steffy Timmerman observed a male in the centre of the northern driving lane.

On seeing the man, she pulled Northside, but the mirror of the right side collided with the pedestrian. Subsequently, motor car PJJ 807, which was moving towards the same direction at a fast rate, overtook motor car PMM 2014 and collided with the pedestrian.

Due to the collision, the pedestrian fell onto the road surface, and he received multiple injuries on his head and his body.

Subsequently, the pedestrian was picked up in an unconscious state and later on was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre. On reaching the centre, the man was examined by the doctors on duty and was announced dead by the doctors.

Both the drivers were apprehended by Guyana officials.

People of Guyana reacted to this incident:

First-person commented – This system just messed up. She should never be driven in the first place. She’s the reason for the accident and gets 75 thousand bail.

Another person commented- But why did she only have to pay 75000 bail? She was the first one to hit that man, plus she was an unlicensed driver. I understand he was speeding, but maybe if she had put on her hazard lights, maybe he would have slowed down or stopped.
