Notably, the suspect has been identified as Ricardo John, a labourer of Lot 42 La Belle Alliance, Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast. As per the reports, the incident took place in the near surroundings of Lima Sands/Richmond access road at around 11:30 hr.
According to the information shared by the source, John was at a shop and was consuming alcoholic beverages when the husband of his ex-girlfriend approached him. Subsequently, the talks between the two resulted in a heated argument.
It is to be noted that the suspect was carrying a cutlass along with him because of the heated argument between the two. The suspect lost his control and allegedly chopped the victim into his chest.
Following this, the victim ran away from the crime spot, leaving the victim in an injured manner. Therefore, the 25-year-old man was picked up by the residents of the community and they took him to the hospital. He was admitted in a critical condition and the doctors provided him with the proper medical facilities. However, he couldn’t survive and succumbed to death.
Moreover, the residents of the island nation expressed their sentiments on the matter through their comments via Facebook. One person with the Facebook account, Odenka Van, commented, “This is so sad, I know this young man. Rest in peace, and we pray his family gets justice.”
While Sharon Rogers, extending his condolences, stated, “My deepest sympathy to his family. Rest in peace, bro.” Meanwhile, Akhir Bacchus, expressing his opinion, commented the following: “When will young people ever give up the mindset of arguing over their ex. Your ex has an expiry date. Don’t stick around expired goods; it’s very unhealthy. Move on to new products if you can’t withstand being single. When will they ever understand this.”
Furthermore, it is very necessary for the Guyana Police Service to take some stringent measures so that no people can take the law into their own hands.
