Guyana: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Suriname Based, Pansa Holdings Industrial Company, Maurino Pansa and team visited Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour, Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), Richard Maughn and Senior Technical Officers of BIT, Leon Greaves and Bevon Sheperd on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
The Surinamese group is presently working to ply their trade in the technical and vocational sector in Guyana and as such raised discussions with the Ministry and the BIT on future collaboration for delivering Technical and Vocational programmes and services.
The CEO of Pansa Holdings Industrial Company met with the Minister for the time at the recent Basins Summit held at the Pegasus Corporate Centre.
Earlier, Ministry of Labour of Guyana “Women Empowerment in Energy Programme” launched in Bartica, Region 7.
Made possible through joint efforts between the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), Guyana Energy Agency (GEA), Small Business Bureau (SBB) and the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, a memorandum of understanding was signed on September 13, 2022, aimed to train 200 women in Basic Solar PV Technology under the Women Empowerment in Energy Programme (WEEP).
On Monday, October 17, 2022, thirty-five (35) women of Bartica, including women living with disabilities signed onto the Basic Solar PV Technology training programme, which will enhance their capacities in the emerging solar energy sub-sector and their Productive Use of Energy (PUE).
The solar PV training will be conducted over three weeks and consist of practical and theoretical aspects of PV repairs, which is a part of a holistic intervention to create capacity in the areas of Lethem, Bartica and Madhia providing up to 3MW solar PV farms financed under GY-L106.
