A 60-year-old pedestrian dies in an accident at Windsor Forest in Guyana. Notably, the officials of Guyana are investigating a fatal accident, that occurred at around 17:25 hrs on Sunday, 23 December 2023.
The incident took place at Temple Street, Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara, Guyana, resulting in the death of 60-year-old.
Moreover, the accident involved motor lorry GAF 4320, driven by 21-year-old, Reyad Mohamed, driver of Temple Street, Windsor Forest and 60-year-old deceased Shazad Mohamed, a self-employed resident of Temple Street, Windsor Forest.
As per the information, lorry GAF 4320 was reversing from the western direction and going towards the East on the road when the vehicle collided with the deceased. It is to be noted, the deceased was walking and pushing his pedal cycle behind the lorry.
Furthermore, the collision, resulted in the pedestrian falling on the road surface and being ‘ran over’ by the left-side front wheel of the lorry. The deceased was picked up by the people in an unconscious manner.
After picking the deceased from the unconscious state, he was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was seen and examined by doctors on duty. The doctors announced him dead on arrival. The body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral home for a post-mortem examination.
The residents of Guyana commented on this, one of the comments read as, “Enquiries disclosed that the driver is too young to obtain a lorry licence.” While another person commented, How come a 21-year-old driving a truck?”
Further, one more accident took place on the West side as a car crashed into a parked container and broke in half. Two people are claimed dead following the accident.
It is to be added as per the information that, during the last 2 days in Region 3, the efforts for curbing driving under the influence of alcohol have shown that the drivers are as much as 4 times over the legal limit with some at .140, .135.
The people of Guyana expressed their sentiments on this case adding that, “Until there is a ban on alcohol, these things will never stop.”
