Georgetown, Guyana: A 57-year-old resident of Lot 303 Goedfortuin Squatting area, West Bank Demerara, Guyana dies of allegedly being beaten by his own relative during an argument. The suspect is on the run and the authorities are trying to find him.
The victim has been identified as Jerome Orlando Bacchus and the suspect has been identified as Anand Saamroo. As per the details shared by the authorities, the victim was beaten on Sunday, 10th March 2024 and died on 12th March 2024.
According to the reports, both the suspect and victim were consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequently, they both indulged in a heated argument due to which the suspect raised his hand on the victim and started beating him.
Following the incident, the victim died on Tuesday and a post-mortem examination was conducted by the officers to find out the real cause of the death. The reports claimed that the victim was given a blunt trauma to the head.
The authorities are probing the scene and have promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, they have ensured that the real culprit would be given severe punishment for the offence he committed.
Several residents of the community took to their official Facebook account and extended condolences to the deceased and expressed their views and opinions on the news.
One person with a Facebook account commented “Rest in Peace Jerome. Nothing goes unpaid. You were always a wonderful, Peaceful person to all your neighbours. God will fight your battle.”
Another person with a Facebook handle Susan Rafferty commented the following “Swift justice this man will be found and brought to justice. Anyone who sees him in the area or anywhere in the village flushes him out. And let this family have some closure to this incident. Very sad to see what your own family can do to you. RIP Condolences to his family/friends.”
“Some families do really live like dogs and cats even some animals live better than humans, sad story though. Rip,” wrote Merlyn Romascindo.
The residents of the community have expressed their concern over family members having conflict and a lack of cordial relations with each other. Such instances would hamper the health of an individual and lead to irreplaceable loss.
Therefore, the residents have requested the administration to conduct a mandatory mental health check-up in order to curb crimes caused due to disturbance in mental health.
